The Living Light House is the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s mobile solar-demonstration structure, and currently is touring the state.
The Living Light team, comprised of students and faculty from the UTK departments of architecture, engineering, interior design and graphic design, is committed to developing net-zero energy buildings that improve the quality of architecture, building envelope and daily life. The team uses ideas and materials that are inherent to the Tennessee region, while utilizing the knowledge and technology that can be provided on a global scale.
In the U.S. Dept. of Energy’s 2011 Solar Decathlon competition in Washington, D.C., the UTK Living Light House earned eighth place.
